I'm trying to surface mount a Ring floodlight cam on a wall. The existing light was on a horizontal rectangular box under the eve. There is not enough space in that location to install a round box (only 3.5") . I plan to run conduit from that existing box several feet on the brick wall surface to the new Floodlight location.It works! You will need to dremel the ring box a good bit and drill new holes to attach the floodlight cam base to the ring adapter (alll plastic drilling, super easy). Connect the bare cables and weather proof nut them together.Connect the black wire from your junction box to the black wire on Floodlight Cam using another wire nut. The reason is that this Floodlight Cam took the place of an existing switched floodlight junction box. So the switch is now hard-wired as always on. And it seems silly to wire a brand new hole and junction box and wiring to have duplicate on-demand lighting when this Ring Floodlight Cam already has lights available. Unfortunately the ring is a standard size flood light expecting a standard round electrical box. It doesn't fit the existing so it won't have a complete seal allowing water to enter the Ring lights.
