Andrews Fabrication is a UL 508A Certified fabricator of commercial electrical service entrance enclosures, custom NEMA enclosures, UL Listed enclosures and custom fabrication services. I'd like to convert my existing 100-A panelboard to a junction box (a new 200-A panelboard is being installed about 15' from the existing panel). My naive question: are there any particular rules to follow for making the specific junctions within the new panel?
Keep those outside and use them to make the service entrance bond at - in - the disconnects. Then bring the power and GEC through the wall into the back of each panel. Make up the panels as subpanels, with bonded grounds and isolated neutrals, since you have the MOCP already, in the disconnects. A junction box provides a safe, code-compliant space for housing cable connections for outlets, switches, or splices. They prevent potential electrical shocks, and keep sparks from spreading to flammable surroundings. Is it OK to put a junction box where an old fuse box is and the existing service entrance wires are not quite long enough to reach into the new service equipment? This would put a junction in the service entrance wires with about 2 feet of new wiring going into the new box.

A lid stay can hold open a variety of lids, including hinged lids, flip-top lids, and trunk lids. As long as the lid has a surface for the bracket to attach to and enough weight to require support, a lid stay should work effectively.
