1982 wood stove with sheet metal We bought an old farm house years ago that came with a Country Comfort insert. She has been a brilliant stove, I reckon from the early 1980's. She has a steel "louvered" grate . However, I've learned it is a bad idea/against code to enclose a junction box in the wall, and I don't want a junction box cover sitting right behind my vanity light. So, what I need to do is add maybe 6 inches to the existing Romex, without a box, so that it can be run directly into the new box on the other side of the stud.

The Hardware Store sheet metal models were often 100% sheet metal and, as I remember, there were two basic sizes.one a full size (ashley size) and another was a much smaller model that looked exactly the same. This is an old Cemi Concept II wood stove. It direct-vents into a fireplace's firebox with no way to attach it to a stove pipe. The window glass was broken and has been replaced with sheet metal. To my knowledge, it does not meet building code. It will need work to get it to meet code and be safe to use, but it has a blower. Most call for durock and tile or 24 gauge sheet metal. Not both. The stove is a Vermont Castings Vigilant. When its in its permanent location I'll be using tile, but even with that I believe it may require a heat shield on the bottom, but I have to double check that.
